For whatever reason, you may have missed the Michigan State University Football Strength Training Clinic last week at East Lansing, Michigan. If you couldn't attend last week, make it happen next year. It's worth it! Also, I'd suggest an overnight stay at The Kellogg Center. Very comfortable amenities there.
There was a knowledgeable list of strength clinicians...including University of Kentucky Strength Coach Ted Lambrinides, Cincinnati Princeton Football/strength coach Mike Shibinski, Tom Kanavy; Minnesota Vikings...and others, too.
If you were not able to attend and want the next best thing..... order the 2010 MSU Strength Clinic DVD. Click on the MSU "S" for the order form . Coach Mike Vorkapich will ship it out to you right away!
Coach Shibinski and I had a chance to stop in to The University of Toledo and check in on Head Strength Coach Rick Court. We got to catch the final group of the day...and they were getting some work done!!! Some heavy duty training was taking place and we'll have some video for you soon on that. The photo is of Drey'Lon Pree, a 6'2 198 pound senior Safety out of Steubenville, Ohio who has definitely been devoting some serious time to training. And, he's focused on getting himself in prime condition for the home opener in Toledo on September 3rd when the Rockets host the Arizona Wildcats; ESPN 8pm. Pictured below is the Director of Football Strength & Conditioning Rick Court (right) describing the nuts and bolts of the Rocket strength program to Cincinnati Princeton High School's strength coach Mike Shibinski.

Assistant Football/ Strength Coach, Mike Shibinski, had an opportunity to see a couple of his former stars while visiting Bowling Green State University... and the Falcons Strength Training program. That's wide receiver Jordan Hopgood on the right and linebacker Dwayne Woods on the left. Coach Shibinski is anchoring down the middle of this photo and he's was pleased to see his guys getting ready to hit the weights. He knows that they are getting the proper training under the guidance of strength coach Aaron Hillmann, who worked with Florida's strength coach Mickey Marotti. Hillmann also was the strength coach when Urban Meyer was the head coach at Bowling Green.
Former ASAP Trainer Nathan Kapsal is now on board at Bowling Green State University and works with athletes under the direction of Head Strength & Conditioning coach Aaron Hillmann. Nathan played football at Thomas More College in Crestview Hills, Kentucky and worked at the Workout @ Covington. He's now picking up the collegiate experience at BGSU and helping the Falcons improve.
I got to see Frank Pomarico yesterday at the Michigan State University Strength & Conditioning clinic. He's a big time Notre Dame alum and former captain for the Fightin' Irish football squad of 1973. Presently though, he's keeping an eye on Michigan Football since that is where his son, Tommy, plays football. Check out Frank's website entitled: The Driven Spirit. You'll find some interesting stuff on his site...and you may find it motivating, too! Just click on the Notre Dame football photo. By the way, that's Frank Pomarico with a lead block at the point of attack..."Touchdown Notre Dame"!

ASAP Trainee and New Orleans Saint Troy Evans' first big play in the 2010 Super Bowl was to call "Heads".... giving the Salnts the ball first and, in doing so, keeping the potent Indianapolis Colts' offense on the sidelines. Congratulations Troy on a Super effort and an NFL Championship!
