It's no secret that nutrition continues to make advances in sport science as the relationship between peak athletic performance and the athlete's diet continues to surge to the forefront. Even the casual fans know of the post workout protein smoothies that many athletes use to enhance their training progress. However, that's only a small slice of how sports dietitians plan their recipes to success. For example, at Auburn University, the Sports Dietitian for the Auburn Tigers, Scott Sehnert is elated with the advancement that their athletics program has demonstrated. The university has recently completed their Auburn Wellness Kitchen, now functioning at full capacity, and the results will have the rest of college sports keeping a keen eye on this undertaking. Behind the scenes, Sehnert takes pride in implementing nutrition and molecular biology to maximize training and performance at Auburn. Meanwhile, those athletes have enjoyed a taste of success.
