ASAP~Athletic Strength And Power founder and NFL~Zebra Technologies Consultant Ted Lambrinides was a guest on The Rocky Boiman show last night and explained the tracking analytics that are being used by the National Football League and now, several big colleges, too.
Coach Holsopple(Right) Ted Lambrinides and The ATL
ASAP~Athletic Strength And Power finally got to Atlanta to see the new and upgraded facilities at Georgia State University Football. The Head Strength & Conditioning Coach, Scott Holsopple, is quite pleased with the way things turned out and has nothing but positive vibes about how the Panthers are progressing as they make their way toward their opening game against Ball State.
Georgia State University is located right in the heart of downtown Atlanta and is home to around 50,000 students! So by enrollment numbers, it's the largest college in Georgia. The athletics program is a member of the Sunbelt Conference and the Panther Football squad won their first bowl game last year after only 6 years of existence. Not bad. And with Coach Holsopple, the Panthers won't find a more dedicated coach. In fact, he stations himself in a loft apartment just a mile or two away from the facility....an easy jaunt for he and his Alaskan Husky. And he already has a grasp on the dining scene in downtown. Let's start with his great suggestion of catching brunch at Ria's Bluebird...where The New York Times Review rated their pancakes as "world's finest"...... They were! I am already planning a trip back for more.
Coach Holsopple joined us a few months ago for an ASAP Podcast that was recorded at the Hammer Strength Clinic Battleground Academy Tennessee. In this fresh podcast, Scott discusses his background, what's going on at Georgia State Football, their brand new strength training center, the conditioning workout that we observed , and the progress the team has made as they prep for the 2016 season. By the way, the weather that day was typical Atlanta, Georgia summer hot. HOT. And Holsopple was sporting a heavy duty Georgia State hoodie along with just as thick sweat pants. With the athletes sweating profusely all around, and myself, from time to time, ducking into the facility for a cold drink a quick hit of air conditioning, the coach never wavered. But that's Coach Holsopple!
Coach Mick shares a meaningful message with the Buckeyes
The Ohio State Buckeyes' Ass't A.D. for Football Sports Performance, Mickey Marotti.....known around the Woody Hayes Athletic Center as "Coach Mick"... is preparing to hand over the "keys", both figuratively and literally, of the OSU Buckeye Machine to his head Coach Urban Meyer The Buckeyes check in to fall camp on Sunday as the off-season grind comes to a halt and the equipment managers start issuing shoulder pads, helmets and the rest of the gear to protect the players. The team is ranked 5th in the coaches preseason poll, so you'd think that they have a ton of players returning. However, there are only a handful of starters that will take the field against the Bowling Green State Falcons on September 3rd over in the giant horseshoe Ohio Stadium.
Pre-season respect like that is a tribute to great recruiting and great preparation. Ohio State brings in some great players, but that's only part of the equation when you're making runs at national championships. Preparation is also a huge piece of the pie and Coach Marotti has the experience to help guide these elite athletes to a higher level.

Today, we catch up with Coach Longo for another ASAP Podcast and he fills us in on a fresh update on what the Fighting Irish have been doing as they prep for their 2016 campaign. This ASAP Podcast is brought to you by PLAE Sports Flooring
Just back from another trip to see that West Virginia Mountaineers! Head Strength Coach Mike Joseph and Assistant Darl Bauer have been grinding away....as well as their WVU Football squad. The team is looking really fit and prepped for another round at Big 12 football.
You may recall last year's visit and photos, here's an ASAP~Athletic Strength And Power behind-the-scenes look at the 2016 version of the West Virginia Mountaineers' strength & conditioning program.
ASAP stopped traveled into the heart of Indiana.... right into Bloomington. Indiana University. That's where Head Strength & Conditioning Coach Keith Caton is cranking up the intensity. He knows his Hoosier Football squad has to be prepared....for a huge schedule looms down the road. Three non-conference games will tune up the team for a Big Ten line-up that is nothing but heavy hitters. Caton knows it, and rolls up his sleeves every day to embrace the grind.
Coach Ron McKeefery is a long time professional in the business of strength training & conditioning for athletics. He's spent time at the University of South Florida, the University of Tennessee Vols, some stints as an assistant with some NFL teams, and he's presently the Head Strength Coach at Eastern Michigan. I caught up with Coach McKeefery at the Hammer Strength Elite Strength & Conditioning Clinic, where Ron was one of clinicians this year. Here's today's podcast, brought to you by TEAMBUILDR ..... and be sure to check out Coach McKeefery's book entitled CEO Strength Coach

The late Ohio State legend football coach, Woody Hayes, would have "word power" sessions and quizzes back in the 1970's to further educate his Buckeyes and help them develop skills that would forever help them. He would certainly nod with approval regarding the 2016 version of the Ohio State Football team, for the players now take "nutrition quizzes". Both Coach Urban Meyer and Mickey Marotti, who is the Assistant A.D. for Football Sports Performance, are adamant about their methods in developing the total football athlete. And no stone is left unturned, as they continue to seek out constant improvement. The successes that Meyer and Marotti have experienced didn't happen by accident. Their results stem from a continuous effort to make change for the better...... the Japanese have a term..... it's called kaizen.
As a result, Ohio State now has Sean McMickle on staff as the team's nutritionist. McMickle is a Registered Dietitian and is leaving a positive stamp on the current football squad. And after the grueling training session that I observed this week, there is no doubt that optimal recovery nutrition is required for the players. And that's where Sean McMickle's expertise lies! Sean took a time-out for this ASAP~Podcast! And also, demonstrates how to make a serious protein and "green" smoothie that's perfect for recovery from strenuous activity. The Buckeyes think it's great....so will you!
Here's the college football program poised to have a seat at the table with the big boys. Tennessee. They have the pieces that can place themselves back in the top ten in the nation. Coach Butch Jones has been getting things on track for another step up. Strength Coach Mike Szerszen knows that there's no time to waste in the preparation of the 120th edition of Tennessee Football.

ASAP checked in at Bowling Green State University last week. That's where we caught up with the Director of Strength & Conditioning for the BGSU Falcons, Kenny Goodrich, who rolled out the red carpet (well maybe it was a green turf agility area).
We snapped off a few pics of many of the athletes who were training at Friday's 1 o'clock group.
