"The most practical philosophy in the world won't work....if you won't"...... Zig Ziglar
January is a nice time of the year. It's a new beginning. Time for a fresh start. A time to evaluate. If you are looking for success in your training program...whether you're a coach and you are getting your team prepared for another off season program....or a you may be a personal trainer and you're thinking of what would be best for your clients.... Or you may be trying to devise a training program for yourself. The bottom line in being successful, no matter the endeavor, is finding the qualities that lead you toward your fitness goal.
Take a look at :
Conviction.... you definitely believe in yourself and your program and you are ready to get it started or to reignite it.
Commitment.... are you willing to apply yourself, day in--day out, to achieving your goals? Just going through the motions won't lead to significant gains.
Hard Work.... working out does not quantify as working hard. Are you pushing yourself..your team...your clients to greater achievement? You'll have to work above...and beyond your normal routines to get to the next level. After all, the next level is a another step (or more) upward!
Persistence.... There are no shortcuts to success. Are you in a quest for a 300 lb. bench press? Trying to lose bodyfat? Unless you are totally focused on your goals and willing to work at them constantly, your goals may not become reality. If drugs (steroids) are the answer, then you are sacrificing your integrity.
Discipline... Discipline implies disciples. Seek out a good plan. Follow your plan. There are plenty of formulas and plans that work. "Plan your Work...Work your Plan". In strength training, there is no one, hallowed answer to the proper way to accomplish things. It's definitely not rocket science....although some will try to make it that way.
Believe!.... Believe in your program...yourself...your trainer.
All right...roll up those sleeves!
