ASAP~Athletic Strength And Power looked to gain an edge this week as we caught up with a long time resident of southwestern Ohio, Dan Dalrymple. Dan's from the famed "cradle of coaches" at The Miami University in Oxford,Ohio as he's now beginning his second season as strength coach for the New Orleans Saints. But it was his 17 years as strength coach and Director of Athletic Conditioning for the Redhawks/ Redskins where he learned the skills of the profession. He's certified in USA Weightlifting and the National Strength And Conditioning Association. And, oh yeah, he was an All Mid-American Conference (MAC) his final two seasons for the Miami Redskins, where he started all four years. Dalrymple is now enjoying his new assignment in New Orleans where he's doing a real nice job. In fact, the Saints had no problems, in regards to strength and conditioning, with the Bengals, shutting them out 13-0. Recent podcast guests, Billy Miller and Troy Evans also enjoyed fine performances in the game and probably didn't get yelled at by the "Get-Back" coach (see the podcast).
In today's podcast, Dan talks a little about his days at Miami and also discusses some insights into being a strength coach for a football squad in the National Football League. Coach also gives a lot of good advice to coaches and strength professionals.
