The Philadelphia Eagles arrived into downtown Cincinnati for their one o'clock Sunday kick-off versus the Cincinnati Bengals.
That allowed the Strength Coach for the Eagles, Mike Wolf, an opportunity to get back together with ASAP~Athletic Strength And Power Program Director Ted Lambrinides. Since the Eagles are in town, it gave the coaches a chance to sit down for dinner and discuss strength training and conditioning in the NFL....and of course nutrition while at the Montgomery Inn Boathouse.
Joining the dinner party were Assistant Strength Coaches Barry Rubin and Jay Merlino. (Coach Rubin, in fact, spent plenty of years as the Strength Coach of the Green Bay Packers). Also, ASAP Podcaster Ed Cicale made sure that the protein content of his entree was sufficient.
Later, with the microphones rolling in a makeshift studio, we recorded today's ASAP Podcast and discussed:
- Coach Wolf's coaching background which includes working with Chet Fuhman, Dan Riley , Brad Bates , Ray Rhodes, and Joe Paterno,
- Mike's brother Joe Wolf
- The Philadelphia Eagles training complex called the NovaCare Center
- Challenges of being an NFL strength coach
- The 1/2 Gasser Conditioning Test used by the Eagles
- In-Season strength training
