Athletic Strength And Power heads to field level for this ASAP Educational Series Performance Video. Head Strength Coach Mickey Marotti prepares this top ranked University of Florida football squad for a game against the Vanderbilt Commodores. Coach Marotti got his start at the Ohio State University... back in the mid-eighties. There he worked as a G.A. for the strength training program devised by present day ASAP Program Director Ted Lambrinides and former Head Strength Coach Steve Bliss. Later, Marotti played an instrumental role at the University of Cincinnati, where he served as head strength coach there. He also helped propel the Bearcats Basketball teams back to national prominence. Marotti began training basketball coach Bob Huggin's hoops team as if they were football players! The intensity was incredible.... and it showed on the court, where UC players were dominate.... and also top ranked!
Then, Mickey moved on to Notre Dame and instilled his hard nosed work ethic there, too. When Florida named Urban Meyer as their new football coach, Meyer sought out Marotti as the guy he "absolutely had to have" to train his Gators. Coach Marotti worked his trade at Florida...pushing his players, and demanding all out effort in the weight room. And, the system works. Two of college football's National Championships in three years.... and this season presently ranked #1 in the country. Congratulations Coach Marotti! Those championships were no accident.
On game day, along with his staff, Marotti becomes one of the top "get back" coaches in all the land. He is also an adviser to Coach Meyer as to the condition of players who have been dinged up during the game. This video depicts some behind the scenes looks at Coach Marotti at approximately 90 minutes prior to kick-off, as the Gators prepare.
