As a teacher and coach, I have had the opportunity to read and review hundreds of books over the years. Books on athletes and coaches...books about specific sports and the techniques and skills necessary to perform better....books on physical conditioning and strength training....and coaching philosophy books, too. Interestingly, one book that I have found myself reaching for a lot since it came to print a couple of years ago is Jim Tressel's (with Chris Fabry) "The Winners Manual". Coach Tressel's players are given a Winners Manual and the book is based on that actual manual that the players receive. I've found it to be a great teaching tool and would definitely be a benefit to any coach, no matter the age or coaching pedigree. I particularly like Part Two titled "The Big Ten Fundamentals"....great stuff for teaching young people about the important things in life. If you find yourself interested in this type of reading, just click on the book cover which links right to the "bookstore". By the way, the book is packed with tons of great quotations and a very nice Foreword by John Maxwell, a well known leadership author and speaker.
