It was hot. It was humid. A typical mid summer afternoon in Lexington, Kentucky. Steamy. (ASAP's #1 Canon High Def video camera shut down after being in air conditioning all morning) The Wildcat football squad had just finished up a weight training session. Then, in comes the youthful basketball team. Don't forget, the Kentucky Wildcats just sent an unprecedented five first round picks to the National Basketball Association's (NBA) First Round. So, this is a young team that Coach Calipari will send out to the hardwood this year. But these young guys work hard! No question. And, they have skills!
This workout may have sent the average guy to the UK Med Center. Yet, Head Trainer Chris Simmons never waivered. He knew this bunch of guys could handle the adverse conditions, while at the same time, the players would acclimate to the training. There was plenty of ice cold Gatorade on hand and the strength staff monitored the players' heart rates with the Polar heart rate monitors.... exercise physiology at its finest here in Lexington.
Meanwhile, strength coach Mike Malone took the helm...literally, as he rode the Ram Sled that the players were driving from one end of the football field to the other. Isn't the Ram Sled a football thing? Not at Kentucky! As you'll see in this exclusive ASAP Video..... our 75th video.
