Dr. Ken Leistner, with the assistance of his lovely wife, Kathy, decided to publish a newsletter in 1985 called “The Steel Tip." The newsletter focused on information pertinent to strength and fitness enthusiasts. Dr. Ken published the newsletter for three years.
It was a newsletter that the readers looked forward to each month. The articles were informational and practical.
It is hard to believe that about a quarter of a century has past since the newsletter was published. In talking to some of the new generation of strength trainers/coaches who have recently started reading The Steel Tip Collection, they are amazed with the quality, clarity, and practicality of the information. It is as if they have stumbled upon a treasure. It is!
Finding ACCURATE, SAFE, EFFECTIVE, and PRACTICAL strength training information is not always easy. The Steel Tip Collection is NECESSARY READING for all individuals who are in the position of organizing and implementing strength training programs for others. Many of the topics in The Steel Tip Collection touch upon problems or issues that a strength coach will deal with on a daily basis. Dr. Ken approaches issues from not only a strength training perspective but from a sports medicine perspective. The common sense approach to training embedded in exercise science principles was what the The Steel Tip Collection was about. As Sam Walton once said, “the only problem with common sense is that it is not common." ASAP whole-heartedly endorses this book as a true gem and recommends that you contact www.functionalhandstrength.com to order the book…DON’T WAIT!
