ASAP~Athletic Strength And Power is thinking BIG this week.... as in National Championship.... so we're rolling out this podcast with Louisville Cardinal Strength Coach Ray Ganong. If you saw the Cardinals in their game against the Michigan Wolverines, you witnessed a superiorly conditioned basketball team. And, they do it all... run, jump, play extremely hard defense, and have the stamina for furious comebacks. Very impressive! Congratulations to Cards and their great win and to their coaching staff... Hall of Fame Coach Rick Pitino and their knowledgeable and cordial strength and conditioning coach Ray Ganong.
In today's program, Coach Ganong talks about:
- being a member of the Miami Hurricanes Football Team
- becoming the strength coach for the University of Miami Hurricanes following a recommendation from Steve Bliss, who had been hired by Woody Hayes to become the strength coach at Ohio State.
- coaching with Howard Schnellenberger and winning the 1983 National Championship
- strength training philosophy that he's developed from over 30 years in the profession.
