Traveling along Mississippi Route 82 Westbound on a recent ASAP Road Trip through the deep south.... down in the heart of the Southeastern Conference ~ the SEC, we ventured over toward Mississippi State University in Starkville MS. It's the home of the Bulldogs and it's what's referred to down there as 'Hail State." We took the last spur south on Rt 12 and arrived just in time for the afternoon session of that day's second training camp practice . Head Football Coach Dan Mullen directed the upbeat session during the typical hot August day there. Ice cold Gatorade was everywhere.
Once practice was over, Head Strength & Conditioning Coach Matt Balis welcomed ASAP~ Athletic Strength And Power to his gleaming weight room at the Leo Seal Football Complex....and this is one of the more impressive facilities that you'll see anywhere! Click on the photo above for the Mississippi State University strength complex pictures.

Coach Balis knows a little bit about developing football players! He's done it at the championship level with some great teams at the University of Utah and the University of Florida. He then headed over to the University of Virginia and now anchors the program at MSU. Balis gave us ALL-ACCESS for these photos and this video tour.
Alongside Balis are assistant strength coach Thomas Stallworth who was formerly the head strength coach at both Grambling State University and South Carolina State University. Stallworth was a linebacker at The University of Tennessee Vols during his playing days. Also with Balis, one of our longtime colleagues, Brady Collins, who came over from The University of Kentucky and can be seen throughout this popular ASAP video.
