Following a 5:30 wake-up call, I headed out of the comfy confines of The Inn at USC, which is right on the campus of The University of South Carolina (Columbia,SC). In order to get a lay of the land, I got hustling on a four mile campus walk. The buildings and history at this great institution are steeped in tradition...and the school has been educating students there for over 200 years. It's worth a visit just to walk the campus area of class buildings and residence halls. It's really like a deep south botanical nature preserve.
However, that's not where Gamecocks Basketball Strength Coach Scott Greenawalt spends his time! He's over at The Colonial Life Arena...and that's where the basketball strength & conditioning program takes place. Towering mossy oak trees or palmetto plants are not the main attraction.... it's multi-purpose racks, barbells and specialized strength training equipment that takes precedence there. And, of course the home basketball court of the South Carolina Gamecocks.
In today's educational video Coach Greenawalt explains the basics of the Dumbell Step-Up Exercise.
