University of Mississippi Weight Room: Ole Miss Rebels Strength

Here's a few cellphone pix that we shot while in Oxford, while visiting The University of Mississippi. Anyway, if you end up down at Ole Miss, you've got to go to Ajax Diner. The meals there are unreal and I think you could literally spend a few days there working your way through the menu. Unbelievable! Here's my suggestion, the Hot Tamale Pie. The flavors will knock you off your feet and you'll most likely email me to thank me for the tip! Oh yeah.... I had the turnip greens and sweet potato caserole as my sides. It's so good that I'm planning another trip down there!

ASAP Baseball Podcast with Washington Nationals Strength Coach John Philbin

The Washington Nationals won the National League East Division Championship this season, winning 96 ballgames.  So, ASAP caught up with the team's strength and conditioning coach, Joh Philbin for this podcast. Philbin, in his 6th year with the 'Nats, has an interesting career...even having a stint as an Olympic Bobsledder! He has also introduced some new concepts to the Nationals in their training program and continues to improve upon strength training for baseball...even while playing a season of 162 regular season contests.

 Coach John Philbin also was involved in developing an over weighted bat training device that helps to increase bat speed and train the athlete to bring the bat through the strike zone more efficiently and in a straighter line.. It's an aluminum bat for youth players, high school and college athletes. It's called the SWINGXP. And it has endorsement as the Official Training Bat of USA Baseball.

Cincinnati Bearcats at Ohio State Buckeyes

Cincinnati vs Ohio State Game Photographs

ASAP took you behind the scenes to see the Ohio State Buckeyes in training Part One with Asst AD for Football Sports Performance Mickey Marotti. We took you there for the Woody Hayes Athletic Center strength tour. We have shown you Front Squat Techniques with Asst Strength Coach Anthony Schlegel..... along with some core work and rope training with him as well.  Of course, we gave you top notch Hammer Jammer Techniques with  Strength Coach Kenny Parker and then-intern Nick Savage. And former All American OSU Buckeye Jeff Uhlenhake, now an Asst Strength Coach, joined us for an important Strength Coaching Segment.
We even brought you to field level for one of the great college marching bands, The Ohio State Marching Band and their incomparable "Script Ohio."  Lastly, you were able to see the Gatorade Fuel Bar Tour with Buckeyes' Team Dietitian Sarah Wick.

Once the training and nutrition is instilled, it's time for some football. Everything that the players have trained for and accomplished through hours of practice finally comes to fruition.
