Michigan's State's longtime strength and conditioning coach Ken Mannie, one of the most respected in the business, had to have felt a little pride factor following the Spartans' come-from-behind victory in front of 75,000 at Spartan Stadium on October 21 versus the Indiana Hoosiers. Mannie's FOURTH QUARTER PROGRAM is installed during those early morning off-season training sessions when nobody's watching. Demanding and exhausting, the program is designed to prepare the Spartans for conditions that will test their physical and mental preparation. This year's MSU Football team is very young and inexperienced. In fact, there are only four starting senior players. Two on offense and two on defense. Given this type of situation, team strength and conditioning is even more of a concern. But, on a picture perfect day near the banks of the old Red Cedar River on the East Lansing, Michigan campus, the Michigan State Spartans defensive unit kept MSU within reach all afternoon. The Indiana Hoosiers had a very fine effort behind two of their Cincinnati, Ohio guys, young quarterback Peyton Ramsey and linebacker Tegray Scales. However, three field goals were not enough to down the Spartans on their Homecoming weekend. With the ASAP~Athletic Strength And Power GAMEDAY Feature crew on hand, Quarterback Brian Lewerke found WR Felton Davis wide open after making the right read to haul in the touchdown catch that gave the Spartans their first lead of the day. A few minutes later, MSU running back L.J.Scott took a hand-off into the end zone, basically unimpeded, for the game's final score. The Spartans had survived another 4th quarter scare, though it appears that sixty minute battles ... or even more.... might be the norm for 2017. Congratulations to Head Coach Mark Dantonio and Coach Mannie on another Michigan State victory.
And as Coach Dantonio always says "Go Green"
